Staff Sgt. Guy Lemmons, a Marine Corps swim instructor trainer, comes to the rescue of Rct. Corey Hargrov, Platoon 1018, Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, during a basic water survival assessment Feb. 3, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. Hargrov, an 19-year-old from Hardinsburg, Ky., struggled during the 4-minute float portion of the assessment, so Lemmons safely escorted him out of the pool. Recruits who fail the assessment receive several more chances throughout the week along with one-on-one instruction from Marines, who coach them through each water survival technique. Lemmons, 28, is from Copan, Okla. Charlie Company is scheduled to graduate April 4, 2014. (Photo by Cpl. Octavia Davis)
