Brig. Gen. Timothy E. Gowen, assistant division commander of the 29th Infantry Division, meets with German soldiers Jan. 25, 2014, at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany. Approximately 30 29th Infantry Division soldiers from both the Maryland and Virginia National Guard traveled to Germany for a Kosovo Force mission rehearsal exercise. KFOR 14-02A, which ran from Jan. 16-31, was designed to prepare 1,500 American and international troops to assume responsibility for Multinational Battle Group- East in Kosovo beginning in February. The 29th ID soldiers acted as KFOR headquarters during the exercise, serving as subject matter experts, enforcing KFOR orders, systems and procedures, and working with JMRC to help the deploying troops achieve their training objectives.
