Gunnery Sgt. Shavon N. Nicholson, 11th Marine Regiment career planner, 1st Marine Division, received the Guadalcanal Trophy for outstanding achievement in 2013 on behalf of her team of career planners during the 1st Marine Division Annual Career Planning Awards Luncheon at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 27, 2014. Nicholson, a native of Axton, Va., supervises career planners who assist in serving more than 25,000 combat-ready Marines and Sailors throughout 1st Marine Division. Career planners are responsible for interviewing Marines several times during their careers and assisting them in reenlisting, transitioning successfully to civilian life or pursuing higher education.
