  • The 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade families and aviators placed roses at the brigade memorial, May 21 in honor of each of the brigade’s aviators who have fallen in combat. Those who fell during the brigade’s most recent deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from September 2011-2012 were added to the memorial. The names of Staff Sgt. Robert B. Cowdrey, Capt. Scott P. Pace, 1st Lt. Mathew G. Fazzari, Sgt. Eric E. Williams, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jose L. Montenegro and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Thalia S.   • Thomasville, Ga., native Capt. Lee Robinson, former commander of Company A, 1st "Attack" Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, speaks at the Veterans Day ceremony at the Veteran's Memorial in Hemet, Calif., Nov. 11. His former Soldier, Chief Warrant Officer Keith Yoakum, a native of Hemet, was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross; an award second only to the Medal of Honor. Yoakum, along with his copilot, Chief Warrant Officer Jason Defrenn, died in combat, Feb. 2, while serving in Iraq.
  • Capt. Bobby Sickler, of Brandywine, W.Va., picks up trash along Buffalo Lake Road north of Spring Lake, N.C., Nov. 21. Sickler was joined by several of his fellow soldiers from 1-82 Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade. The road has been dedicated in memory of Chief Warrant Officer 4 John R. Priestner and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Miles P. Henderson.  Priestner and Henderson were killed while serving with Task Force Wolfpack in Iraq, Nov. 6, 2006.
