Parris Island Marines were among those who volunteered to coach 20 special-needs children during a weekly bowling practice. Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island hosted the practices for four weeks as part of an ongoing partnership with Robert Smalls Middle School and Battery Creek High School as the students prepared for the Dec. 20, 2013, bowling match in Bluffton, S.C. Special Olympics is an organization that provides year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities to build physical fitness and confidence. Goldberg, 21, is from Fair Lawn, N.J. Richey, 20, is from Eastman, Ga. Lebron, 18, is from Hartford, Conn., and all are with Basic Marine Platoon, Support Battalion. Brown is a student at Robert Smalls Middle School in Beaufort, S.C.
