Afghan National Army takes control of Forward Operating Base Shir Ghazay

Marines serving with Bravo Company, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, uses a Tracker, Rubber-tired, Articulated, Steering, Multi-purpose (TRAM) forklift to lower a gate while making a vehicle control point at Forward Operating Base Shir Ghazay, Nov. 19. The base was established to provide security for Route Red. Route Red has been the primary transportation route for coalition forces and Afghan National Security Forces supporting FOBs throughout Helmand province. The FOB overlooks the re-supply route and maintains security in the immediate area.
