Sailors aboard the USS Mount Whitney postion 17 tons of humantarian assistance for offload to a barge for delivery to the Port of Poti, Georgia. At the request of the government of Georgia, the United States is providing humantarian assistance to the people of Georgia. The HA efforts are being coordinated by the U.S. Department of State and USAID with assistance, as required, being provided by the Department of Defense following the conflict between Russian and Georgian forces.
