Brig. Gen. Jon Miller, The U.S. European Command Joint Assessement Team, discusses humantarian assistance operations with U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. Also participating is U.S. Ambassador John F. Tefft, and the Georgian First Lady Mrs. Sandra Roelofs. At the request of the government of Georgia, the United States is providing humantarian assistance to the people of Georgia. The HA efforts are being coordinated by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development with assistance, as required, being provided by the Department of Defense following the conflict between Russian and Georgian forces. The Vice President visited Georgia, Sept. 4, 2008.
