    CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - In this photo by the U.S. Coast Guard, members from Aids to Navigation Team Corpus Christi prepare to place inert mine-like shapes, prior to the 2009 Corpus Christi Maritime Homeland Security Limited Objective Experiment.

    The experiment, is a joint effort between the Navy and the Coast Guard. It involved the Coast Guard placing shapes representing mines, along the bed of the Corpus Christi ship channel and the bay.

    The Navy's Marine Mammal Program was utilized during the experiment for object detection, location and marking recovery.

    The experiment began on Monday, May 11, 2009, and concludes Friday, May 15, 2009, with a reception and media day.
