Fraternal Order of Police, 2nd Vice President and Minnesota State Trooper, Ruben Marichalar presented a National Law Enforcement Memorial Coin to Coast Guard Fireman Ronald Prei during a memorial service in Duluth honoring BM1 Edgar Culbertson. BM1 Culbertson, BM2 Richard Callahan and FN Ronald Prei tethered themselves together with a rope and set out to search for three missing brothers in a horrific 1967 storm. Culbertson, a trained law enforcement officer, and the three boys died during the storm. Culbertson's name has been submitted to the National Law Enforcement Memorial. All three Coastguardsmen received the Coast Guard Medal in 1967 for their heroism; Culbertson's parents were presented with his award posthumously.
