(HONOLULU)-- U.S. Coast Guard and other military members race near Diamond Head during the Malama Ka Mea Ho`Opakele Canoe Regatta on Oahu's southeast side, Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008.
More than 500 participants used stand-up paddleboards and outrigger canoes during the race from Hawaii Kai to Magic Island. The race raised funds for the family members of Coast Guard '6505.' The Dolphin rescue helicopter crew crashed five miles south of Honolulu International Airport, Sept. 4, 2008.
