Capt. Joe Costabile, the senior medical officer for Camp Taqaddum Surgical, 1st Supply Battalion (Reinforced), inspects his medical equipment prior to use. Costabile is now serving as the acting chief or professional services at the facility that treats all service members. Costabile has been involved with emergency room procedures and surgeries involving both coalition forces and members of the Iraqi army. Costabile, from Marlton, N.J., works with his fellow medical professionals providing emergency surgical capabilities to save the lives and limbs of those injured in the al-Anbar province.
