Boatswain's Mate First Class Colin Redy, of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Adak homeported in Sandy Hook, N.J., looks out at the pier shortly before the Adak's first patrol in the Middle East. Four 110-foot patrol boats are currently deployed in the Arabian Gulf, the first time Coast Guard patrol boats have deployed to a potential theater of war since the Vietnam War.
