Marines watch the sunrise next to their V-22 Osprey from the flight deck aboard USS New York (LPD 21) prior to pulling in to the ship's new homeport at Naval Station Mayport Dec 6. New York's homeport shift from Naval Station Norfolk is part fo a larger move of the IWO JIMA amphibious ready group (ARG). USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) and USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43) are scheduled to follow the New York in 2014 in support of strategic dispersal and two viable East Coast surface ship homeports as well as the preservation of the ship repair base in both Norfolk and Jacksonville.
