Pvt. Zachary Foster, left, and Pfc. Tevin Moonholliday, both with Platoon 1093, Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, look at the scoring card for their upcoming battalion commander's inspection Nov. 23, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. Senior leaders of the battalion quizzed the new Marines on general military knowledge, close-order drill movements and uniform and grooming regulations throughout this final graduation requirement. Foster, an 18-year-old native of Dayton, Ohio, and Moonholliday, an 18-year-old Boston native, are scheduled to graduate Nov. 27, 2013. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent of females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Lance Cpl. MaryAnn Hill)
