Amphibious assault vehicles from Amphibious Assault Vehicle platoon, transported infantry Marines to advance to their objective points in a mountainous environment.  24th MEU Marines performed a series of sustainment and joint exercises alongside the French military service members while in Djibouti. The 24th MEU is currently serves as the theatre reserve force for Central Command during its seven month deployment aboard Nassau Amphibious Ready Group vessels.
  • Spc. Cesar Nunez, an armored vehicle crewman with Company M, 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, originally from Los Angeles, stands behind his M240B machine gun mounted atop a Caiman armored vehicle on Forward Operating Base Endeavor May 7. Nunez, and fellow members of the 3rd platoon, “Blue Pits,” recently detained a man using a cell phone to gather detailed video footage of U.S. convoys. Nunez identified the suspicious man during their mission and was recognized by the regimental commander for his actions.

Cenia Nunez, a female detainee searcher attached with 3rd Squad, 1st Platoon, A Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, talks to a young girl while her squad searches a house for possible insurgents in a northern neighborhood in Baghdad, Feb. 15.  Nunez, a native of North Bergen, N.J., and her team searched numerous houses in attempts to learn from the locals and provide security to the neighborhood.
