Marines and sailors take over New York Veterans Day weekend

Master Chief Petty Officer Shawn Isbell, the command master chief of the USS New York, leads Marines and sailors from the ship in the Veterans Day parade in New York City Nov. 11, 2013. The large parade went right through Manhattan, with thousands lining the sides of the streets yelling, chanting and cheering on the service members as they marched by.

  • Sailors from the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan participate in a fan tunnel for the New York Knicks players and staff during the Knicks vs. Utah Jazz basketball game at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. Nearly 1,500 Sailors and Marines from Bataan are in New York for a week of community outreach events, public tours, participation in the city's annual Veterans Day Parade and support for the grand reopening of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.
