Gunnery Sgt. Dustin Schellenger instructs Brig. Gen. John Bullard on the use of the M45A1 Close Quarter Battle Pistol during a range conducted by the Camp Pendleton Special Reaction Team on Oct. 31. Bullard was on a routine inspection of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton units. Schellenger is the Special Reaction Team, team commander. Bullard is the commanding general and regional authority for five Marine Corps installations in the southwestern United States. A Special Reaction Team is comprised of military police personnel trained to give an installation commander the ability to counter or contain a special threat situation surpassing normal law enforcement capabilities. The SRT must be capable of isolating a crisis scene, providing proficient marksmanship support, conducting tactical movement, building entry, and clearing of buildings.
