An F/A-18C Hornet begins to slow after its tail hook is “trapped” by the wire from a field arresting system at Clark Air Field, Pampanga, Republic of the Philippines, Oct. 2 as part of Amphibious Landing Exercise 2014. The recurrence of PHIBLEX, now in its 30th year, demonstrates the commitment of the U.S. and Republic of the Philippines to mutual security and their longtime partnership. The aircraft is with Marine Fighter Squadron 232, currently assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, as part of the Marine Corps’ unit deployment program.
