Spc. Jeffrey Shepard, a patriot fire control enhanced operator and maintainer for Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery Regiment, became the first U.S. service member to receive the highest Japanese Air Self-Defense Force combatives certification during a ceremony Sept. 20 at Yoza Dake Air Station, Okinawa, Japan.
