Medal of Honor recipient Rodolfo P. Hernandez is escorted onto the field to perform the coin toss at the start of the West Point/Louisiana Tech football game at Cotton Bowl Stadium, Sept. 29, 2013. Hernandez - then an Army Cpl. with Company G, 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team - earned America's highest military decoration in Korea on May 31, 1951 during a battle on Hill 420, near Wonton-ni. After his rifle ruptured, he continued attacking the enemy with his bayonet, enabling his comrades to regroup and take back the hill. He suffering grenade, bayonet and bullet wounds in the battle.
