Larson The 104th SFAAT arrived at Camp Shelby, Miss., Sept. 24 following a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan, where they prepared the Afghan Border Police to assume greater responsibility for their own security. In addition to working with their Afghan counterparts to improve operations, logistics and communications, the 104th helped start two 12-room schools and a deep well, distributed donated school supplies to villages along the borders of Iran and Turkmenistan, and delivered 175 desks to a school that had no furniture. The 104th SFAAT commander Lt. Col. David Larson will remain with a handful of Soldiers at Camp Shelby who still need to complete demobilization requirements.
