Authorized Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) gear sits on display during the Red Cross’ disaster preparedness workshop at the Yuma, Ariz., County Main Library on Wednesday. The green helmet and safety pack are issued to volunteers who complete the mandatory 20-hour CERT training program. CERT is a branch of the Arizona Citizen Corps Program and trains volunteers to make communities safer, strong and better prepared to respond to emergencies or disasters. The next CERT class will be held at Faith Horizon Church, 8519 E. 24th Street, near College Park on Friday, Oct. 11 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
