Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class Darrell Mccall (left) from Seguin, Texas, communicates to Gunner's Mate 2nd Class Anthony Castaneda, from Huntington Beach, Calif., the direction he wants the phone and distance line to be fired across from the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) to the fast combat support ship USNS Bridge (T-AOE 10) during a replenishment at sea (RAS). More than 200 pallets of cargo were transferred onto Ronald Reagan during the RAS, over 40 of which consisted of mail. The Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group is on a scheduled deployment in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility. Operating in the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean, the U.S. 7th Fleet is the largest of the forward-deployed U.S. fleets covering 52 million square miles, with approximately 50 ships, 120 aircraft and 20,000 Sailors and Marines assigned at any given time.
