Marines, sailors recognized for superior performance

Staff Sgt. Nicholas A. Collins, a platoon sergeant with 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, from Suwanee, Ga., is awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal from Brig. Gen. James W. Lukeman, the 2nd Marine Division commanding general, during a morning colors and awards ceremony Aug. 22, 2013. Collins was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for being the 2nd Marine Division Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year for 2012. Collins was also awarded for being the Non-Commissioned officer of the Quarter for July through September 2012.
