American flags, flowers, and photographs pay tribute to the 13 victims murdered in the Nov. 5, 2009, Fort Hood shootings Aug. 19, 2013. The items adorn the fence that surrounds the former Soldier Readiness Processing Center where the tragedy took place. The center was fenced in and closed after the tragedy, and makeshift memorials to the victims have continuously adorned the fences and gates around the buildings since. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Ken Scar, 7th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment)
