Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Rashad Gipson, an aviation maintenance technician, set frequencies in his radio console on board an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter prior to takeoff from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, Ore., Aug. 25, 2013. Gipson is a qualified flight mechanic aboard the Jayhawk, and is responsible for monitoring radio communications, monitoring the condition of the aircraft and operating the helicopter’s hoist system during search and rescue cases.
