June 6, 1944: 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany. At the invitation of the French government, Task Force Normandy, led by the 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), has organized more than 650 U.S. military personnel to support approximately 30 ceremonies in the Normandy region of France from 4-8 June 2014, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings
