[7] Optometry helps Airmen see eye to eye
From basic training, military servicemembers are taught the importance of attention to detail. When cleaning and inspecting weapons, servicemembers ensure they are free from carbon and in good working order. If the optics on a weapon is dirty, scratched or otherwise in disrepair, the problem is immediately corrected to ensure the weapon can be zeroed in on target. It is often said that the body is also a weapon system and keeping it clean and in good working order is essential in keeping servicemembers in the fight. (11/7/09)

[12] Puerto Rico's 1/65th Army Borinqueneers Takes Over Security in Horn of Africa While on convoy patrol one day in late October, U.S. Army Sgt. Hipolito Nieves noticed a wet spot on the ground on Hill 63, a checkpoint outside Camp Lemonnier. He called over his convoy commander who confirmed that someone was just there and likely fled upon their approach. They searched the area and found no one. The commander called it a defensive posture, one of many patrols conducted around the perimeter of Camp Lemonnier. (11/6/09)
[16] C-17 aircrew scores touchdown in mission with NFL greats
The lone figure was crouched in his uniform, scanning the field from under his helmet for his intended receivers. But this was no stadium; it was a C-17 Globemaster III flying over the harsh and dangerous terrain that is Afghanistan. And there was no football, but rather, 18 much-needed bundles of food, water and supplies for troops at a forward operating base. The quarterback, in this case a loadmaster, found his targets. [15] H1N1 vaccine rushed to Central Command war fighters
U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Gary Newman, from Brooklyn, N.Y., received the first H1N1 influenza vaccine in the Central Command area of responsibility at Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar, Nov. 5. The shipment of H1N1 vaccines arrived Nov. 4. Medical logistics specialists immediately repackaged and relayed the vaccines to war fighters in Southwest Asia. Inoculations at the Qatar base started the following morning. (11/5/09)

[16] Air Force engineers help keep Afghan roads safe for travel
"Roads bring people. People bring business and business improves life for everyone."
These words, spoken in 2006 by Canadian Brig. Gen. Daniel Pepin, then the deputy general for reconstruction projects in Afghanistan, have proven prophetic, as, three years later, the ability to move vehicles and goods along roads here has been greatly enhanced, improving the lives of Afghans across the country.

[1] Ospreys Transferred to Afghanistan B-roll of MV-22B Ospreys with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 263 (Reinforced), 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, taking off in three waves from the flight deck of the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5). The aircraft were flown to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, where they will be transferred to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 261 and used in support of 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade. [9] Change of Command - Same Mission The 376th Air Expeditionary Wing serves as the hub of operations for air refueling and transporting of forces going into and out of Afghanistan. Tech. Sgt. Harry Kibbe now takes us to Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan, where command of the 376th recently changed, but as he says the mission stays the same.
