Maryland educators get an inside look at Marine Corps recruit trainingEvery year, more than 20,000 men and women are recruited and sent to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., with the hopes of becoming a United States Marine. It is on this island that recruits endure 13 weeks of “boot camp,” which is arguably the most physically and mentally challenging basic training of all the uniformed services.

3rd MAW race brings awareness to sexual assaultMarines and Sailors with 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing took part in The Great Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Race aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., April 15. Modeled after the television show, “The Amazing Race,” the event took 50 six-person teams from their starting point to 10 different locations to take part in discussions and activities. Each team was guided by a set of riddles and clues that led them from place to place covering more than five miles.


US Marines, sailors to conduct training in Nigeria
Approximately 20 Marines and sailors from Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Africa 14 will travel in April to Nigeria to conduct a theater security cooperation mission designed to improve the military capacity of our African partners and better enable them to prevent conflict and increase regional security.
