Texas Guardsmen support mission, fellow service membersWhen disaster strikes, the members of Joint Task Force 136 (Maneuver Enhancement Brigade) answer the call with lifesaving capabilities, such as decontamination, search and extraction, and medical triage. With 500-700 troops working around the clock for days at a time, they need support. Within this National Guard element, the 636th Brigade Support Battalion stands ready to provide the fuel, maintenance, water and food necessary to keep these Guardsmen working as long as necessary.

Texas Guardsmen train with Brownwood first respondersIn the fight to save lives during an emergency, one can never be too prepared. To effectively serve the citizens of their communities, National Guard assets and their civilian counterparts must work alongside one another to ensure they are ready to go when a disaster occurs. For the members of Joint Task Force 136 (Maneuver Enhancement Brigade), this means frequent and realistic training in preparation for the day their support is needed.

Texas Guardsmen welcome employers for annual training tourService in the Texas Army National Guard may only be “one weekend a month, two weeks a year,” but even those short periods of time can have a big impact on the civilian businesses that employ Guardsmen full-time. Beyond civilian talents, many Guardsmen bring unique skills and perspectives to their workplaces, ranging from a developed attention to detail to a motivation to work until the job is done and a team-driven work ethic.
