McConnell Reserve unit braces for furlough
After weeks of review, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel concluded budget cuts will require most of the department's civilian employees to be furloughed beginning in July, but that because of other efforts to deal with the shortfall, the 22 days originally envisioned has been reduced to 11 days.

Cadet's capstone cyclogyro project praised by Boeing
The Academy's superintendent, Lt. Gen. Mike Gould, dean of the faculty, Brig. Gen. Dana Born, and the Boeing company's executive vice president, Dennis Muilenburg, attended a briefing May 13 at the Aero Lab to recognize cadets from an aircraft design course for their award-winning design of a search and rescue and medical evacuation aircraft for the year 2045.
