As part of the DoD's observance of Military Spouse Appreciation Day, DoDLive hosted a Bloggers Roundtable to discuss efforts to strengthen the education and career opportunities of military spouses. Joining us to discuss the efforts were Meg O'Grady, manager of the Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, and Marcus Beauregard, Chief, DoD-State Liaison Office. Both are from the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Military Community and Family Policy).

  • Military spouses, as you already know, are the backbone of the military family. Without the spousal support, how would our soldiers, airmen, sailors, and Marines continue to accomplish the mission? 

In honor of military spouses, we held a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable with Meg O'Grady, director of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) and Dr. Cathy Flynn, program analyst with Military Community & Family Policy on Friday, Nov. 16. Dr. Flynn and Mrs. O'Grady discussed key initiatives related to military spouses employment and overall military family lifestyle.
  • DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable with Robert L. Gordon III, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Military Community and Family Policy).

Mr. Gordon discussed Volunteer Appreciation Week.
  • Dr. Jonathan Woodson, assistant secretary of defense (health affairs) & director of TRICARE Management Activity, and Charles E. Milam, acting deputy assistant secretary of defense for military community and family policy, will participated in a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable to discuss the newly announced Healthy Base Initiative.
  • A DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable was held Wednesday, May 22, to discuss resources available to help members and their families enjoy the summer months despite financial constraints. Guests to the roundtable were Carol Potter, senior program analyst for Morale Welfare and Recreation Policy, and Eddy Mentzer, policy and management Analyst in the Office of Family Policy. Both are from the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Military Community and Family Policy).
