  • As part of Exercise Active Shield, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni is hosting daily crisis and readiness scenarios to keep servicemembers prepared for the worst. To simulate a hostage situation, an actor was placed with two volunteer hostages as military police and reaction forces surrounded the building. Lance Corporal Joshua DeFour was held captive to bring you the story.

  • “Mardi Gras” is French for “Fat Tuesday,” and was originally a carnival celebration of food and song before Christians prepared to fast for Lent. Today, the Mardi Gras spirit is alive and well all over the world through different events and traditions. Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni joined in the fun by hosting a Mardi Gras party at Club Iwakuni. Lance Corporal Joshua DeFour collected some beads to bring you the story.   • Teachers who work at the Air Station’s Child Development Center spend a lot of time and patience acting as second-parents and life coaches to Iwakuni’s youngest residents.
