    Police discover IEDs and explosive material

    KABUL, Afghanistan - The Afghan national police discovered 25 kilograms of explosive material in the Spin Boldak District of Kandahar province yesterday.

    A vehicle loaded with explosive materials was detained by the national police after identifying the vehicle.

    Two insurgents were arrested. An investigation has been launched into the case.

    In another incident, ANP discovered and diffused three mines in the Uruzgan province yesterday.

    The remote-controlled mines were placed by insurgents in different Districts of Uruzgan province, but were detected and defused by Afghan national police.

    "Insurgent IED attacks kill innocent Afghans," said Navy Capt. Jane Campbell, ISAF Joint Command spokesperson. "Discoveries like this demonstrate the ever-increasing capability of our Afghan partners to protect the civilians of this country from indiscriminate IED attacks."
