AL ASAD, Iraq – With the upcoming redeployment and drawdown of units in Iraq, the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 751st Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, was tasked with identifying and turning in excess equipment that was inherited.
These items included all classes of supply from office supplies to 10K generators. The battalion formed an excess team to track the turn in of equipment. All sections within the Battalion had to conduct additional inventories of their containers and list items that were deemed excess. The battalion was given a suspense to turn in these items.
HHC Supply, along with the staff sections, inventoried containers and placed items in inserts to be turned in. The battalion was also tasked with turning in containers to clear the yards.
The 10th SBDE provided a Container Management Team to assist in repairing containers and bringing them to seaworthy standards. Soldiers from various sections worked hard together to accomplish the task. Some of the items were turned in at Al Asad, but major end items had to be hauled to other locations. Items were identified by LIN, NSN, Nomenclature and Serial numbers. These items received technical inspections prior to being cleared for disposition.
Through hard work and determination, Operation Clean Sweep was a success.
