Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, Vice Adm. Bill Gortney awards a Bronze Star Medal to Cmdr. Tim Murphy, former commanding officer of Electronic Attack Squadron 140, March 17. The medal recognizes sustained meritorious performance in combat from March - June 2009, while Murphy led the VAQ 140 "Patriots" electronic warfare mission while deployed aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. VAQ-140, based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Wash., flies one of the Navy's premier tactical electronic warfare aircraft, the EA-6B Prowler.
