    SOUTHWEST ASIA — Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations Nov. 27 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

    Air Operations in Afghanistan:

    Jalalabad
    Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When the aircraft arrived on station, they were tasked with pre-emptive strikes; the aircraft utilized precision guided munitions to successfully eliminate enemy activity from enemy fighting positions.

    Asmar
    Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When the aircraft arrived on station, they were tasked with pre-emptive strikes; the aircraft utilized precision guided munitions to successfully eliminate enemy activity from enemy fighting positions.

    Shkin
    F-16C aircraft operated in support of friendly forces. When the friendly forces reported taking enemy rocket fire and the confirmed coordinates for the point of origin of the rocket attack, the aircraft released precision guided munitions on the enemy fighting position and terminated the enemy action.

    Surkhabad
    Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II and F-15E aircraft provided armed overwatch and area reconnaissance for friendly forces. Air support was requested when the friendly forces indicated receiving enemy small arms fire from several points. The points of origin for the enemy fighting positions were confirmed and the aircraft provided an initial show of force in order to deter the enemy action. This was followed with strafing runs on one enemy fighting position and a precision guided munition on another enemy fighting position. The actions successfully ended the enemy small arms fire on the friendly forces.

    Almar
    Air Force B-1B Lancer aircraft provided armed overwatch and surveillance for friendly forces. A show of force was performed to deter any potential enemy threat. The show of force was considered successful when no enemy action was noted.


    Asadabad
    F-15E aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The friendly forces learned of an imminent threat and requested a pre-emptive strike to deter any potential enemy action. Precision guided munitions were released on the confirmed enemy positions successfully eliminating any threat to the friendly forces.
