CAMP STRIKER, Iraq – The medical troop healthcare providers of the Regimental Support Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment conducted a combined medical education on anaphylaxis, a sudden severe whole-body allergy reaction, in late February.
More than 15 medical providers, which included providers from 101st Airborne Division, 3rd Infantry Division, 24th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army MiTT, and 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment.
The information brief was conducted on in late February, at the Camp Striker Troop Medical Clinic by Capt. David Crandall, the 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division's Flight Surgeon.
The featured guests were 1st Lt. Hussein Ali, brigade surgeon with the MiTT; Warrant Officer Malik Mohammed, medical specialist with the MiTT; and Warrant Officer Talib Musthtaq, brigade medical specialist, 4th Battalion, 24th Bde., 6th IA MiTT. Also in attendance was Salar Karem, brigade interpreter for the MiTT.
Crandall explained the different ways a person can go into anaphylactic shock, and the different measures to help control it.
This information should be very beneficial to all, said Crandall. It is expected that this type of training will help enable the Iraqi army providers to learn and share the different methods used to prevent similar incidents.
"This event was a great success in fostering a great relationship with the Iraqi army," said Maj John McMurray, commander, Medical Troop, RSS, 2SCR.
