Col. Mark J. Desens, commanding officer for Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force 26, and Cmdr. F. Curtis Jones, commander of USS New York, welcome guests aboard USS New York as the visitors prepare to tour the ship, Nov. 1 off the coast of New York. During the tour, SPMAGTF-26 Marines interacted with the guests by explaining the uses of various equipment on display at the event. SPMAGTF-26, which is comprised of North Carolina Marines from several units, was formed to support the ship's commissioning in New York, Nov. 7.
