Cmdr. Takenaka Nobuyuki, left, commanding officer of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force submarine JS Narushio, welcomes Capt. Murray Gero, commanding officer of the guided-missile submarine USS Ohio, to Yokosuka Japan for a routine port visit. The officers and crew of Nurushio are volunteer sponsors to assist Ohio during the port visit, continuing a long tradition of submariner camaraderie. Ohio is beginning a one-year deployment to U.S. 7th Fleet. Ohio is homeported at Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor, Wash., and currently serves under Commander Submarine Group 7 at fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan.
